Big Things Come in Small Packages
There's nothing like a mother's love and for sophomore Delvrick Tatum, that's what he cherishes the most.
The five-foot-six running back from Bolton High, had a show-stopping game last week against Grant- rushing for over 200 yards touching the ball five times. He says his mom is the reason for where he is today, and couldn't have done it without her.
"She does everything she can to help me get where I am now," Tatum said.
"Every time I play, I look for her. If she's not there I'm not going to play," he added.
Delvrick is used to taking on a lot being the oldest on his dad's side. So with his mom, Coach Teague says he wants to be the man of the house.
"He feels like the load is on him, but I have to remind him that he doesn't have to grow up so fast," Head Coach Mark Teague said.
So instead of carrying the load off the field, he's carrying the load on the field.
"He had a really good week of practice, so I told him when Friday night comes, you'll get your opportunity to be rewarded. Little did I know he would maximize the opportunity," Teague said.
For his passion on and off the field, he's this week's athlete of the week.
