CTK: Avoyelles looking to build from memorable season

MOREAUVILLE (KALB -- The Avoyelles Mustangs are looking for their brand of football to take the next step forward with a district championship in 2018 after a first round exit in last years playoffs.

Head coach Andy Boone has brought a steady hand to the helm of Avoyelles football as his unorthodox coaching methods has taken a team that won three games in four years to four consecutive trips to the 3-A state playoffs. In 2017 the Mustangs defeated long time parish rival Marksville for the first time in more than two decades.

"Our number one goal is always to make the playoffs but we do want to win a district championship, everyone has already crowned Jena or Marksville winner and runner-up, we think we'll be right there with them at the end," said Boone.
