DEVILLE (KALB) -- The Buckeye Panthers defied all the odds last season, surviving a gauntlet in district play to sneak into the Class 4A playoffs last season. And although that postseason experience last all of one game, it set the tone for 2018.
Head coach Jonathan Landry returns to majority of that playoff team from last season, with the biggest returns coming in the trenches with the likes of Hunter Dubroc and Cade Foster on the offensive line. It's been the Panthers strength for years and is expected to be again this season, which will make running lanes for tailback Drew Worthy easy to come by and should relieve the pressure off of new starting quarterback Robert Fowler.
Buckeye begins its quest for a playoff return trip by hitting the road to open the season at Block on August 31.
