NATCHITOCHES (KALB) -- There will be a different feel about the St. Mary's football team in the 2018 season. After bowing out in the Division IV semifinals to Ascension Catholic last season, head coach James Aldredge later announced his retirement. That has paved the way for former Louisiana College football player Aaron York to take the reins and lead the Tigers back to a deep postseason run.
A Panama City native, York had spent the last few years coaching in his hometown and now begins again in his wife's hometown of Natchitoches.
In addition to York, there will be a different face under center for the Tigers this season with senior Parker Bankston finally getting his shot at quarterback, having played receiver and defensive back the last three seasons. But while there are some new cogs fitting in, the goal of making a run to the state championship game remains the same.
