ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) Zach Walker, Carrie Boswell, Nic Mboungou, and K.C. Clear. Four seniors on four different teams that will represent Central Louisiana in the 2017 LHSCA All-Star Game in New Orleans.
Zach Walker, of Alexandria Senior High plays Center Back and has helped lead the Trojans to a district title with a 9-0-1 record and a 15-5-5 overall record.
Despite being proud of being selected for the all-star game, Walker has bigger aspirations for his team than he does for himself.
“Hopefully I won't be able to play in the all-star game because we'll be competing for a state championship that's the dream, but just work hard go off to practice like I've always done and go into the playoffs with the right mind set I mean its a honor being able represent not only myself, my school, my team and my city its a great feeling.” Said Walker.
Fellow ASH senior, Carrie Boswell a forward who also helped lead her Lady Trojans to a district title. Matching their male counterparts with a 9-0-1 district record and a 19-3-4 overall record.
Though Boswell's first love is softball, where she committed to play at UL-Lafayette she uses soccer as a break from the circle.
“I'm honestly very honored to be named a soccer all-star this year, soccer is not my first love softball is, but its nice to find something else to do you know to give myself a break from softball so I really love soccer for that it gives me an opportunity to have fun and so I'm honored.” Said Boswell.
Across town at Bolton High School, center attacking mid-fielder Nic Mboungou has had a record year. He captured the Bears single-season goal record with 31 goals and 34 assists--- racking up 96 points so far this season. He also helped Bolton earn yet another district crown.
Mboungou is excited to follow in his brothers’ footsteps and continue the tradition at Bolton.
“It feels good, it feels good because my brother got that too and I have that too so it feels good to follow up with the tradition at Bolton that we have here and the past years the players at Bolton yeah I really feel proud and good to represent.” Said Mboungou.
The lone all-star representative from across the river at Pineville, K.C.Clear, a striker who was far and away the leading scorer for the rebels with 21 goals more than three times than the next closest teammate. Clear finished second on the team in assists with nine.
Growing up with the fellow all-stars, Clear says it will be nice to be on the same team
“Its a real privilege to get to know all these other seniors because I have been playing club which is different from high school, but I've known most of these guys my whole life we've been playing since we were 12 years old so to be able to have one last hoo-rah in high school its something special its a once in a lifetime.” Added Clear. “For me its a big honor I can't remember the last time somebody from my team has been selected like that I can't thank my coach and teammates enough for this honor.”
