Dunn leaving Pineville for North DeSoto

PINEVILLE (KALB) -- After a couple of weeks of speculation, the rumors are now official. Dennis Dunn is now the former head coach at Pineville High School and is heading back to "where it all started" as the football coach and Athletic Director at North DeSoto High School.

"I am honored to be the new head coach at North DeSoto," Dunn said in a text to KALB. "For me this is an opportunity to come home. I have felt that one day I might get the chance to coach again where it all started. To be able to come back at this stage of my career is truly humbling."

Dunn is something of a legend in the Shreveport area, having coached at both Woodlawn and Evangel in the 1990's and 2000's where he posted a career record 200-41, including nine state championships with the Eagles in 13 seasons.

After flirting with the move to college football when he was in the running for the head coaching position at Northwestern St. in 2000, Dunn finally made the jump in 2006, moving to Pineville to coach Louisiana College. In 11 seasons with the Wildcats, he posted a 65-45 record before moving back down to the high school ranks, where he coached Pineville High School for two seasons.

He also serves as the pastor at River Outreach Church in Pineville and will continue to do so despite the move.

"I am leaving a great group of young men at Pineville High School," said Dunn. "The program is on the rise and I know the best is yet to come."
