Foul Trouble Plagues Generals in Exhibition Loss
The LSUA women’s basketball team was holding tight with Louisiana Tech for most of the first half until foul trouble popped its head up against the undermanned Generals late in the second quarter, allowing the Lady Techsters to push open the lead in the second and third quarters as LSUA fell 93-61 in an exhibition game Thursday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
How It Happened:
Trailing 13-7, LSUA went on a 10-1 run to take their first lead of the game as two Jamaya Galloway free throws gave the Generals a 17-14 lead, and maintain that lead almost all the way throughout the rest of the period until the Lady Techsters made it 22-21 with just over a minute left. However, a Kelsey Thaxton three with 30 seconds remaining gave the Generals the lead after one period of play at 24-22. LSUA’s largest lead of the game came right at the start of the second quarter as Brittany Hall converted a jumper for a 26-22 lead. But that’s where LSUA went cold and the fouls started to mount as Louisiana Tech finished the half on a 24-9 run to take a 46-35 lead into the half, and three of the seven Generals players dressed out for the game had at least three fouls. The game got out of reach to start the third quarter as the Lady Techsters scored the first 14 points of the period to make it 60-35, and the game coasted to a conclusion from there.
