ALEXANDRIA, La (LSUA) - The LSUA baseball team finished off a dominant sweep in its RRAC opening series, not allowing a run for the third straight game as the Generals swarmed to another run-rule win over Huston-Tillotson, defeating the Rams 10-0 in seven innings Saturday afternoon at Generals Field.

After stranding a Ram lead-off base runner in the top of the first inning, the Generals took advantage of off the mark pitching and mistakes in the field to build a big lead right out of the gate. With the bases loaded and just one out, Adrian Gomez got the scoring fest started with a two-RBI single to left-center to score both Ronnie McBride and Seth Patin for a 2-0 lead. Logan Constantine was waiting to tag up and try to score on a fly ball to right by Matt Muhleisen, but the ball was dropped in the outfield, allowing Constantine to come home anyway. With the bases reloaded, Ben Bayless was hit by a pitch to force in Gomez for a 4-0 LSUA lead. Muhleisen came home on a ground ball to second, and then Zach Hebert got a free pass home on a balk by the Ram pitcher before the inning finally ended with LSUA up 6-0.
The Generals added one more in the third as Ty Desormeaux got a two out RBI as his single to center brought home Zach Hebert to make it 7-0 LSUA through three complete innings.
In the fifth inning, the Generals got the score into run-rule territory. After drawing a walk, Matt Muhleisen took advantage of a slow track behind the plate as he was able to move from first to third on a wild pitch. Ben Bayless made that hurt as he found the hole between shortstop and third base for a base hit, sending Mehleisen to the plate for an 8-0 LSUA lead. With pinch runner Eric Thomas now on first for Bayless, Ty Desormeaux grabbed a hold of a pitch that the yard could not hold, Desormeaux’s second home run of the season which gave LSUA the 10-0 lead.
For the second straight day, pitching was phenomenal for the Generals as Clayton Doyle (4-1) threw five solid innings, scattering three hits and gave up no runs. He walked only one and struck out six to collect the win. Jacob Norman finished things out by giving up just one hit in two inning of work with no runs, no walks, and four strikeouts.
Logan Constantine was two for two at the plate with a double, a run scored, and a walk. Ty Desormeaux went two of three in the contest with four RBI, including his home run that accounted for two of those RBI and his one run scored. Adrian Gomez had one hit with two RBI and a run scored. Ben Bayless also collected two RBI on one base hit. Matt Muhleisen was also credited with a RBI and two runs scored without a base hit.
The Generals (12-4, 3-0 RRAC) will host the LSUA Round Robin starting on, hosting Champion Christian College, Dakota State, and Bethel. LSUA will play both of their games of the round robin on Wednesday, starting at noon with the game against the Dakota State Trojans (0-4) at noon followed by the nightcap against the Bethel Wildcats (8-8) at 6:00 P.M. at Generals Field.
