WACO, Texas (LSUA) - With two shutouts and two key wins to pick up a conference tournament first-round bye, the LSUA women’s soccer team swept the final Red River Athletic Conference weekly awards as Cindy Parenteau was named RRAC Offensive Player of the Week while Terrie Tchoffo was named RRAC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Parenteau, a senior defender from Saint-Jerome, Quebec, Canada, scored a goal in both of LSUA’s games on the week, a 3-0 win over Huston-Tillotson, and a 1-0 over Southwest, both coming off corner kicks where she headed the kick in. The goals were her third and fourth of both the season and her LSUA career.
Tchoffo, a junior goalkeeper from Fort Worth, Texas, continued her hot start as LSUA’s goalkeeper, recording her third straight clean sheet in her last three starts between the posts for the Generals. In the win over the Rams Thursday, she was credited with five saves, while she needed to make just one save to keep the Mustangs off the board on Saturday. Tchoffo appeared in six conference matches during the regular season and did not concede a goal. She’s 3-0-1 on the year with 14 saves and has allowed just one goal in seven matches overall.
Parenteau, Tchoffo, and the rest of the Generals (12-4-1, 6-2-1 RRAC) now enjoy a week off after earning the two seed in the RRAC Soccer Championship Tournament presented by Farmers Bank and Trust. The Generals return to action in the tournament’s semifinal round against the highest seed remaining following this weekend’s first-round matches. Kickoff of LSUA’s RRAC Tournament semifinal match is scheduled for 1:30 P.M. at Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Eagle Field.
