KANSAS CITY, MO (KALB) -- One game down, four more to go.
The first test in Kansas City passed as the LSUA men's basketball team opened up its NAIA Tournament campaign with a 81-74 victory over Central Baptist on Wednesday. The number one seed Generals move on to Friday's second round where they will face #5 Bethel, who beat John Brown earlier in the morning.
Senior William Claiborne, who told KALB last week that he is motivated more than ever to win a national championship, lived up to his words against the Mustangs and led all scorers with 20 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
Claiborne was one of four Generals to reach double figures, with Phillip Rankin Jr. adding 16 points, JaMichael Brown with 13 and Malek Harris with 10. LSUA winning the battle in the paint, outrebounding Central Baptist 35 to 28.
