High School Football: Pickering vs Merryville

LEESVILLE, La. (KALB) - The Pickering High Red Devils are off to a hot start this season with an undefeated record. This coming Friday, Pickering High will go the road to play in a non-conference match-up against Merryville.

“Ultimately we are going to try and spread the ball around on offense like we’ve done for two weeks,” Pickering’s Head Football Coach, Ryan Russo said. “On defense, we really bring intensity, attention to detail, and discipline. Hopefully, that will give us the edge.”

Right now, the Devils are averaging 139 yards through the air and producing a whopping 236 yards on the ground.

“They run man coverage [a lot], we ain't seen man this year but with our speed that we have, I don’t think they will be able to cover our speed,” Braden Lebato, the quarterback of Pickering High said.

Lebato believes with the proper adjustments that Pickering High will remain undefeated.

“We are ready for anything this year and the boys are hungry,” Lebato said. “We are going to be 3 and 0 by the end of this week.”
