Holt helps Pitkin return to glory
Throughout the course of history, winning is synonymous with the Pitkin High School baseball program. As the Tigers made the trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA Baseball Championships last week, they did so armed with 11 past state titles. However, none since 1999. That changed though on Monday evening as the top-ranked Tigers added a 12th trophy to the case with a 7-0 win over Converse in the Class B finals.
A high-water mark for the program, but also for head coach J.C. Holt. The first-year head coach took the job last summer after a couple of near misses during his time at Holy Savior Menard. In a weird way, Pitkin and Holt seemed to be the perfect fit for each other and that marriage has quickly led to great results.
