PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Four local youth baseball players in Pineville are hoping their skills on the diamond can punch them a ticket to the 2019 MLB All-Star Game.

Alex Courville and Dylan Hennessey participated in the Jr. Home Run Derby event, and both placed in the top three at the Fort Worth Regional two weekends ago, while Bryson Phoenix and Noah Coody also placed in the top three for the Pitch, Hit and Run event at the New Orleans Regional this past weekend.
If the collective group's scores are high enough, they'll be invited to participate in the same events at Minute Maid Park during an Astros game.
The end goal, though? To make it to the MLB All-Star Game, where the players will compete in their events and get to shag ball during the home-run derby.
The Pineville Recreation Department is hoping that this MLB sponsored event can bring national exposure to local talent.
"One of these days, we will have a kid from the Pineville-Alexandria area that's going to make the Major League All-Star Game, and gonna win, and then move on to represent all of Central Louisiana," says Walter Guillory, an employee of the Pineville Recreation Department.
"Maybe, just maybe, that will happen this year."
