PINEVILLE, La. – Just three days after coming three assists shy of a triple-double against Belhaven, Kayla Kinney filled the box score in the Louisiana College women’s basketball team’s second meeting of the week against the Blazers and again neared a triple-double, but the Lady Wildcats dropped the game 94-78 Saturday afternoon at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
The Blazers scored the game’s first 11 points and threatened to really pull away in the first quarter, building up a 20 point lead. However, the Lady Wildcats showed some fight in the second quarter, getting the lead down to 13 points several times during the second quarter, the first time with just less than 4:30 remaining in the period on a jumper by Alex Harrison that made it 37-24 Belhaven. The Blazers led by 15 at the half. However, any hopes for an LC comeback were dashed in the third quarter as the Blazers built up a 35 point lead in the period. The young Lady Wildcats outscored the Blazers by 16 points in the fourth quarter to close the game on a bit of a high note, even in defeat.
