Leesville hits road for quarterfinal clash

LEESVILLE (KALB) -- For the first time since the turn of the century, the Leesville High School football team is practicing over the Thanksgiving break. Into the quarterfinals, the sixth-seed Wampus Cats are preparing to head down to #3 St. Martinville this Friday in a battle of unbeaten teams in Class 4A.

It is LHS sixth time in program history to be one of the last eight teams remaining and the first since 2000. Head Coach Robert Causey, who was on the coaching staff for the Wampus Cats' last quarterfinal run, set a return to the final eight as one of the team's many goals before the season.

But even with that accomplished, Leesville is by no means satisfied as it gets set to play in a game with a trip to the semifinals on the line. Kick-off from St. Martinville is set for 7 p.m.
