PINEVILLE, La. (LC) - The 2019 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year have been announced in all eight regions. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee
Louisiana College had two players listed among the All-West Region selections with Clayton Noakes picking up a First Team Third Base spot and Deauton Delgado a Second Team Utility spot.
Noakes earned his second all-region honor of the year after getting a d3baseball.com All-West selection a week ago. The sophomore had one of the best seasons at the plate of any Wildcat in history. He finished second in both homers and slugging percentage for a season in LC history. After spending the majority of the season batting well over .400, Noakes finished the year with a .381 average and in the top-five in 12 different offensive categories on the team.
He ranked in the top-10 in eight different offensive categories in the American Southwest Conference, including tying for third most with 11 home runs and fifth most in doubles with 14 on the year. His season was good enough to rank him in the top-10 in eight single-season LC categories including hits, runs, RBI, home runs, and batting average.
Delgado was great at the plate and on the mound this year for LC. He earned his second straight First Team All-ASC utility player honor this year. He hit .341 on the season with eight home runs and 38 RBI. On the mound, he was 7-4 with a 4.70 ERA in a team-high 67.0 innings pitched and 13 starts and 60 strikeouts. He also threw the second no-hitter in school history as he shut down then #11 Concordia. He moved into first all-time in career home runs with 22 and is the first player in LC history with 20 career home runs, 100 runs scored, 100 RBI, 100 hits, 10 pitching wins, and 100 strikeouts.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Americans will be announced the evening of Thursday, May 30. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced Wednesday, June 19.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
