PHS senior teaches future baseball players skills on the diamond
Saturday morning at Pineville High School, one Rebels baseball player spent his time teaching the future stars of the diamond.
PHS senior Jon Talley put on the annual Winter Baseball Clinic. The event started as a senior project three years ago at the school, and this year Talley decided to keep the tradition going.
The clinic welcomes rising baseball players ages 8-12. Talley and the rest of the senior class on the Rebels Baseball Team helped teach the youth the fundamentals and skills of the sport.
The clinic combined instruction, a competitive environment, and of course fun. Talley compared it to clinics he attended at Louisiana College growing up, only this time he was the teacher.
"Getting to meet the LC players was a really big deal at that time,” explained Talley. “Getting to look up to them as role models. So it's an honor. This whole experience with the senior project is just awesome. I can't thank everyone enough for helping me out and being able to make this come to a reality."
