Mayor Clarence Fields held a press conference on Thursday afternoon to announce that the Little League Softball Southwest Regional Tournament will take place at Wildcat Park starting on July 19. Then on December 28, Wildcat Field will host the second annual Louisiana Gridiron Football All-Star Game.
For the softball tournament, it ends a six-year absence from Pineville, having last been hosted by the city in 2012. It will feature softball teams not only from Louisiana, but other states as well, such as Texas, Colorado, and Arizona.
As for the football all-star game, it will again be hosted on LC's campus after having seen much success last year. It will welcome players from all Louisiana high schools and one of the team will be coached by former LC and Pineville High School head coach, Dennis Dunn.
