Simpson, Pitkin advance to title games
Simpson High had a chance to exorcize some demons in their match-up with Harrisonburg on Wednesday afternoon, with the opportunity to take down the squad that defeated them in the Class C title game a season ago.
Well, consider those demons exorcized.
Simpson scored two runs thanks to a Harrisonburg error and that would be enough for the Broncos, who advanced to their third straight championship game. The Broncos will square off against Summerfield
for the Class C title on Friday.
Pitkin High needed to move past a similar history this afternoon, as the top-seeded team in Class B looked to overcome the very stage they couldn't pass a season ago: the semi-finals.
The Tigers would do just that, exploding for seven runs in the sixth to move past Glenmora, 9-1. The Tigers will face the winner of Converse and Quitman in the championship game on Friday.
