Rivers Day signed with the Lady Generals, Thursday evening, becoming the second women's basketball player out of Vernon Parish to sign with the team in the past month.

Day comes to the Generals with the reputation of a sharpshooter, as she scored several important baskets to help Hicks High School win the state championship last year.

"She's a baller," Bob Austin, LSUA's head coach said. "She can shoot, we all know that. She can put it on the floor, she can handle some pressure. She kind of goes both ways as a guard. She can bring it up the floor and spot up and find those holes."

Michael Charrier, the head coach of Hicks High School and Day's current coach followed up Austin's statements, as he bragged about Day.

"Rivers [Day] is a young lady who spent countless hours developing her shot," Charrier said. "She has a quick release and she has a shooter's mentality. At the same time, she does a good job of finding a good shot but creating a great shot for her teammates."

"I am super excited about it," Day said with joy. "It's a great opportunity and I love Coach Bob and Coach Chris already like a family... I went on a visit there practiced with the girls, and it's just such a family atmosphere, and I can't wait for next season."
