Sulphur trip on the line for top-ranked Tioga
The Tioga High School baseball team is number one in Class 4A for a reason. The Indians enter the quarterfinals this Friday against #9 Salmen, armed with a 27-game win streak, but these next two, or potentially three, games coming up are all that matter now.
Dating back to 2013, THS has punched its ticket to Sulphur for the LHSAA baseball semifinals every other year, including a trip to the finals in 2017, where the Indians dropped a heartbreaker to Neville. The version of the Indians still has many players that were a part of that loss in the title game, and that is the motivation they are using this season to reach that point again, and possibly surpass it.
But, that first means that Tioga has to get by Salmen. That best-of-three series begins Friday at 7 p.m. with game two set for Saturday at 1 p.m.
A potential third game would also be on Saturday at 4 p.m. All games will be held at Ward 10.
