ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Battle at the “Bill” is a two-sided story. Pineville is coming off of a loss to Tioga, while Marksville is feeling red hot after beating Avoyelles.
“We've got TO get ready for the Marksville tigers,” Pineville head coach Darin Moore said. “They’re 2-0, and they’re a good football team.”
“I think we've had some good moments,” Marksville head coach J.T. Dunbar said. “I think we've done a good job of facing adversity in both games. We fell behind and had some really good comebacks.”
2015 was the last time that these two teams met with Pineville getting the win. With several storylines in place, the Tigers, led by QB John Small, are looking to change that.
“They're getting better and better every week, and you can obviously see that on video,” Dunbar said. “Coach Moore is doing a good job with those guys and defensively, they're going to give us a lot to handle. They've got a big defensive line, and those guys will be hard to move around. We'll have to do a good job mixing it up between pass and run.”
Small has been one of the main ones playing at a high level. Last week, he finished the game with 9 completions, 3 of them being touchdowns. Pineville will have to slow him down to be successful.
“Our defense has a great game plan for the defense coming in this week,” Moore said. “The defense has to play well.”
