The Lady Rebels powerlifting squad is one of the best in the area, but their core lies within their senior class.

Brionna Ford, Xacaria Clark, and Jamie Johnson have been competing since they were freshmen. Now, their hard work is coming to fruition.

They all will get the chance to compete in Canada at the USAPL Sub-Junior World meet later this month. Clark will get the chance to compete in Costa Rica in a few days

"It means a lot,” Clark said. “I didn't think I was going to get asked to go to Costa Rica and Canada.”

"Sometimes you've got to speak things into existence,” Johnson said. “I was just talking about this last year, and I look at the rankings now and I'm third in the world."

Since I've gotten this opportunity to go to Canada, I feel that I’ve made a big accomplishment,” Ford said. “I mean, how many girls do you know have that kind of opportunity?"

Their coach, Will Cowan, helped them along the way, and the girls appreciate him for pushing them.

"Will stays up all day. It’s like he breathes powerlifting,” Johnson said. “He sacrifices a lot."

To help support their team,

They will also be holding a fundraiser at Pineville High School on Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
