ALEXANDRIA, La (KALB) - We have another shooter on our hands this week-meet Ky'Juwon Jones. Growing up, basketball has always been his strong suit.
"Basketball is all I had growing up," Ky'Juwon Jones said. "I was a bad kid, but basketball helped me get passed that and mature," he added.
Jones received the opportunity to take those first steps of maturity as a player on the Rapides boys basketball team.
"I felt like this was where I had the biggest opportunity to play and grow," Jones said.
Ky'Juwon is having a great season. He averages 30 points per game: he finished with 26 points against Marksville and 33 against Atlanta.
"I have a saying on the court where I say 'Too easy,'" he said. "That's the kind of zone I'm in.
It's not just easy for him to play basketball, but he also finds it easy to lead his team.
He's done a really good job of helping the younger guys get acclimated to what we are trying to do here," head coach Travis Broussard said.
"I feel like it's my role to have to step up and lead them," Jones said. "This isn't junior high anymore and they have to know that," he added.
So, for is dedication, leadership, and hard work, he's this week's ACA Athlete of the Week.
