Trojans Get it Done at Home in Overtime
After trailing 14-1 in the first quarter, the No. 5 Trojans rallied back in overtime to win over No. 2 Ouachita Parish in overtime!
"I thought we used the first quarter to warm up because we couldn't execute our assignments," head coach Lance Brasher said. "It just shows the character of our guys to get back in the game," he added.
"Coach told us we had to pick it up, so we didn't have a choice," senior Bud Clark said.
"I just had to tell them that we have been playing good competition all year," Brasher said. "We have to take one possession at a time and slowly find our way back into it and that's what we did," he added.
Right before the half, Desmond McQuain knocked down a deep three to make it a one-point game, 25-24. Coming back into it however, Ouachita Parish went on a 7 point run, making Ash onvce again, have to fight their way back in it.
"My goal is to step up in big games like this," senior Desmond McQuain said. "This win proves that we can go on and win a state championship," he added.
"It took every last one of them tonight," Brasher said. "Our team bought into the defense after the first quarter. We held this team to 50 points in an overtime period. That's pretty outstanding," he added.
"It's actually my first year playing basketball," senior Bud Clark said. "I felt this was an amazing thing to do," he added.
