PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Football season is creeping upon us faster than ever, but we want to track back to the Louisiana College Wildcats.
Saturday, they held their media day and the hype surrounding the season is obvious.
“This year's focus is that we're at the same place that we were at last year,” said head coach Justin Charles. “We're battling back and forth, our practices have been good, and I'm more proud of the way that we've fought everyday”
Later that night, the Cats held their blue and orange scrimmage.
Here are a few takeaways from this game.
For one, both quarterbacks, Landon Lalonde and Sal Palermo had their good plays and bad. Both could easily have a legitimate shot as the starter in week 1.
Second, the wide receiver group is deep. Micah Dunn and Zion Williams lead the pack while making big plays and being a constant target for the quarterbacks.
Third, the offensive line is still extremely young and is dealing with injury across the board. Joseph Fisher, Chad Smith, and Isaiah Romero did not play. With more in game reps, they could help lead this offense to success.
Four, the running game is spotty as of now. Markaylin Milburn, Nick Sumrall, and Aaron Woods are continuing to find their way.
Lastly, the defense is making big time plays in big time moments.
