Sophomore Landon Lalonde and freshman Sal Palermo are the two names in the mix. Lalonde saw small amounts of playing in 2018, while this is Palermo’s first season playing college football.

Regardless of who gets the nod, it will be their first time starting as a college quarterback. Offensive coordinator Ben McLaughlin says that he's hopeful for both of them.

“They're going to split reps with the ones for the next few weeks,” said McLaughlin. “I told them that the guy that is the most consistent is the guy that's going to win the job. It sounds crazy to think about that but whoever starts, it'll be their first game to start as a collegiate quarterback.”

“Be it a freshman or sophomore, we're going to start the guy that gives us the best chance to win the game. Hopefully between the next two weeks, that guy will emerge.”
