Despite not competing for more than 10 months and having to duke it out with top programs in a condensed Ted Nelson Invitational, the Northwestern State track and field program didn’t show signs of rust Saturday.
With the increase of violence in Alexandria, a local organization is stepping up to make a difference. The Stop the Violence, Alexandria chapter works to stop violence and crime in communities. They’re holding a news conference to discuss crime on Monday, January 18, at 11:30 a.m. outside of Christian Love Baptist Church located at 3508 Hudson Boulevard in Alexandria.
"[I pray] they put guns down and pick up love," Rev. Clifford Person Jr., the pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, said while praying. "Come into our communities and build our young men and our girls up to know that death is a long time."
