APD seeks public's help in locating suspect in bank robbery

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - UPDATE: Alexandria Police are asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted for armed robbery and attempted first degree murder.

Police say 55-year-old, Mitchell Casmere, entered Regions Bank on 6th street in Alexandria Friday evening, drew a handgun, and demanded money.

Casmere was able to flee the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, but before he left, he fired his handgun, striking a female bank employee once in the leg. The employee was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for what was reported as a non-life threatening injury.

APD officials, along with agents from the F.B.I., the U.S. Marshall's office, and State Police worked together in the investigation.

Police say Mitchell Casmere has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous. Police urge the public not to approach the suspect, but to contact police right away.

The Alexandria Police Department are investigating a reported robbery at Regions Bank on the 500 block of Jackson Street.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

APD: "We have a few leads, and we have brought in FBI to assist in the investigation."
