After a couple of weeks of speculation, the rumors are now official. Dennis Dunn is now the former head coach at Pineville High School and is heading back to "where it all started" as the football coach and Athletic Director at North DeSoto High School.
Due to costs and fear of injuries, high school football has seen a constant decrease in players each year for the past decade and many schools in CENLA have been affected. But just like in game, faced with adversity, local coaches are working overtime to find a solution.
It has been four long and cold years since the Many High School football team graced the Mercedes-Benz Superdome with its presence. The last two seasons have the seen the Tigers get close to getting back to the class 2A finals, but to no avail.
For the first time since the turn of the century, the Leesville High School football team is practicing over the Thanksgiving break. Into the quarterfinals, the sixth-seed Wampus Cats are preparing to head down to #3 St. Martinville this Friday in a battle of unbeaten teams in Class 4A.
District success has been synonymous with the Marksville football for nearly two decades. Since 2003, the Tigers have been at or near the top of the district 3-3A standings and the Tigers do not plan on that changing any time soon.
