Construction worker hears whimpers coming from dumpster, finds 4 puppies inside
APPOMATTOX, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) - A litter of newborn puppies was rescued from a dumpster in Virginia Monday.
A construction worker in Appomattox checked inside the dumpster after he heard whimpers and found four puppies inside a dog food bag dumped inside, according to Appomattox Animal Control.
The puppies fortunately were not injured and are considered healthy, animal control said.
WDBJ reports the dogs are of a hound dog breed and presumed to have been born Sunday.
The pups have been arranged to live in a long-term foster home, according to animal control.
Officials said there are no suspects at this time, but anyone with information on who left the puppies in the dumpster is asked to contact Appomattox Animal Control at 434-352-7622.
