Oakdale High calls for prayers for student

UPDATE: The teen has died. Oakdale schools will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 10, so students and faculty can attend his funeral.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) - A teen is in the hospital after a high-speed chase through multiple parishes Thursday morning.

Multiple law enforcement agencies chased a vehicle through Beauregard, Calcasieu and Cameron parishes, state police said. The driver stopped near Parish Line Road, where he shot himself around 10 a.m.

Allen Parish School Board officials said the driver is a student at Oakdale High School. Superintendent Brad Soileau asked for prayers for him, his family and his school.
