Pres. Trump fires US Attorney General Pam Bondi
Deputy AG Todd Blanche to take over on interim basis
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump has fired U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi after she led the Department of Justice for over a year.
The firing comes weeks after Trump ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Trump confirmed Bondi’s departure on Truth Social, writing: “Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”
Trump was reportedly not pleased with how Bondi handled the Jeffrey Epstein files. Bondi was scheduled to give a sworn deposition regarding her handling of the Epstein files to the House Oversight Committee April 14.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will take over at the DOJ on an interim basis.
Bondi responded on X pledging to work with Blanche as she transitions out of the role. She called serving as Attorney General the “honor of a lifetime.”
Bondi has known Trump for over a decade. Despite her loyalty, Trump decided he wanted someone else leading the DOJ as attorney general.
