WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The organization Christians Engaged is hosting “America Reads the Bible,” a weeklong reading celebrating the U.S.’s 250th birthday.

People will be reading from the Museum of the Bible in Washington each day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT.

Readers include faith leaders, politicians, celebrities and ordinary Americans.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) took part in the Bible reading Sunday.

“We’re the first nation in the history of the world that boldly proclaimed the self-evident, obvious truth that our rights do not come from government. They come from God himself,” Johnson said. “And the founders were inspired to write that and to do those things that set the government up as they did is they’re reading this amazing book that we still get to cherish and share.”

President Donald Trump is also set to take part in a video recording Tuesday night.
