Train drags car 200 feet in Kinder; teens, infant escape with minor injuries
KINDER, La. (KPLC) - A car was dragged 203 feet by a slow-moving train in Kinder early Tuesday morning, police said.
The train was traveling at 25 mph because a slow order had been issued by the railroad due to work on the tracks, Kinder Police Chief Kevin Doise said. The train normally travels around 40 mph.
The car was heading north near the intersection of Ninth Street and Sixth Avenue around 12:25 a.m.
The 17-year-old girl who was driving will likely be cited, Doise said. A 16-year-old boy and an infant were also in the vehicle. All three were properly restrained and suffered minor injuries.
Doise said it is believed the accident is only the second at that particular crossing, which has no crossing arms.
