Train hits man sleeping on tracks; victim alive, sheriff says

INNIS, La. (WAFB) - A man is the hospital after being hit by a train in Pointe Coupee Parish Monday morning, Sept 2.
Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux said the man was sleeping on the train tracks parallel to Highway 1 in Innis when the crash happened.
The sheriff confirmed the man is alive, and Air-Med took him to the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office initially responded, but the railroad company is handling the investigation.
