EBRSO: Deputy hurt while directing Super Bowl traffic in New Orleans

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office confirmed one of its deputies was hurt after being hit by a truck while directing traffic for the Super Bowl.

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office confirmed one of its deputies was hurt after being hit by a truck while directing traffic for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

According to the sheriff’s office, a dually truck reportedly clipped the deputy with a back tire on Convention Center Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.

Officials said the deputy sustained minor injuries, but he will probably require surgery for a broken ankle.

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the incident.

Police located the truck about an hour after the incident, and officers did tests to determine charges, added officials.
