2 arrested in connection with Bayou Classic shooting; mother, sibling arrested on gun charges
LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting on Bayou Classic weekend, and two others were arrested on gun charges.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says deputies received information on March 19 about fugitives believed to be in Livingston Parish on Village Lane.
The subjects were wanted in connection with a shooting that took place in New Orleans on November 30, 2024, during the Bayou Classic. EBRSO previously assisted NOPD during the investigation in identifying all the subjects in question.
The people in question were as follows:
- Dantrell Sanford 05/13/07 (principal to attempted 2nd-degree murder)
- 16-year-old juvenile 1 (principal to attempted 2nd-degree murder)
After receiving the information, EBRSO agents worked with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division to conduct surveillance of the location where they saw suspects with a vehicle matching the description given by sources.
With the assistance of the LPSO K9 Division, a traffic stop was conducted on Buddy Ellis Road. Dantrell Sanford was located inside the vehicle and taken into custody. Also in the vehicle was the fugitive suspect’s mother, Keyonna Sanford.

The mother took agents back to the apartment where two juveniles were also taken into custody. LPSO obtained a search warrant for the apartment where agents found articles of clothing worn by the suspects at the time of the shooting.
Agents also located the following during the search:
- 2 AR pistols
- Body Armor
- Marijuana
- Codeine

Dantrell Sanford was booked as a fugitive from NOPD for principal to second-degree murder. A 16-year-old was also booked as a fugitive from NOPD for principal to second-degree murder.
A second juvenile was booked for LPSO narcotics and firearm charges and Keyonna Sanford, identified as the mother of the three above suspects, was booked for LPSO narcotics and firearms charges.
