Driver airlifted after crash involving school bus in Livingston Parish, officials say

Officials say some students suffered minor injuries, and the driver of another vehicle was airlifted to the hospital after a crash involving a school bus.

WATSON, La. (WAFB) - Multiple people are hurt, including one person who was taken to the hospital, after a crash involving a school bus in Livingston Parish on Thursday morning, March 27.

According to the Livingston Parish School System, the bus was taking 55 students to Live Oak High School and Live Oak Junior High when the crash occurred. It happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Highway 16 near Live Oak Ballpark in Watson.

Officials said the person who was driving the other vehicle involved in the crash was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Some students suffered minor injuries, and they were released to their parents or will be taken to their respective schools, according to the school system.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and first responders responded to the scene, as well as both school principals and central office staff.

The school system confirmed the bus was damaged, and it will be towed to the central office transportation center for inspection and repair.

Parents were contacted to pick up their children. Students whose parents cannot be reached will be taken to school.
