Blue Bayou under new management
Waterpark to reopen with new branding in spring 2026
ST. GEORGE, La. (WAFB) - Blue Bayou Waterpark will reopen next spring under new management and a new brand, according to its new operators.
Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC (“Leisure Sports”) announced on Tuesday, June 10, that it will take over operations for Blue Bayou Waterpark in Baton Rouge. The Louisiana-based company currently operates Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, Miss.
According to Leisure Sports, Blue Bayou will reopen in Spring 2026 under the Soak’n Fun® brand, which they say is known for delivering clean and safe family fun.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Soak’n Fun experience to Baton Rouge,” said Glenn Haggerty, managing partner at Leisure Sports. “Our team is committed to creating a safe, exciting, and family-focused environment that will delight both locals and visitors alike. We’re ready to build a team and get to work this offseason in preparation for May 2026.”
Leisure Sports’ expansion into the Baton Rouge market coincides with the 20th anniversary of Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, according to the company.
A spokesperson with the company confirmed Leisure Sports will only be leasing and operating the waterpark and not the neighboring Dixie Landin’ Theme Park.
The current owners will continue to maintain ownership.
Earlier this month, the owners of Blue Bayou announced that both the water park and theme park would be closed for the 2025 season.
