Memorial fund set up to honor teen killed in deadly mall shooting

The Odom family announced that a memorial fund has been set up to honor their 17-year-old daughter, Martha, who died from gun violence at the Mall of Louisiana.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Odom family announced that a memorial fund has been set up to honor their 17-year-old daughter, Martha, who died from gun violence at the Mall of Louisiana.

Community members can donate to the Martha Odom Legacy of Joyful Grace in Motion fund at the Community Foundation of Acadiana.

The fund was announced as part of a statement the Odom family issued.

According to the Community Foundation of Acadiana’s website, the fund will honor Martha Odom’s life by supporting causes that reflect her compassion, values, and spirit.

Odom was a senior at Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette. She was killed after gunfire broke out in the food court at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Thursday afternoon, April 23.

One person has been arrested so far in the ongoing investigation.

Community members held a vigil for Odom and the other five victims on Monday night, April 27.
