Storm leaves damage in Deville, Cheneyville & Lecompte
(KALB) - The storms that passed through Cenla on March 11 left damage over in Deville, Cheneyville, and Lecompte.
On the morning of March 12, Cleco crews were seen cutting downed trees and cleaning up debris in Deville. Rapides Parish Sheriff Mark Wood said the area was one of the hardest hit areas in the parish. At one point, 5,000 customers were without power.
On the night of the storm in Lecompte, roadside workers from Lafayette were cutting up a line of fallen trees that had taken down a power line and blocked the road. This wasn’t their first trip, as they had responded to five other incidents beforehand.
Jump further south to Cheneyville, it was much of the same: downed trees and debris. In the middle of town, we ran into Mayor Ronnie Green, who was taking a more hands-on approach. He said for his area, residents can largely expect leftover debris and blocked roads, but wants people to stay patient as officials work on the road to recovery.
